Update provided by School Principal, Rashmi KC:
We had to postpone the start of our new academic year from June 14th to July 8th due to COVID cases in the Tsoknyi Gechak Ling. About 16 of our students tested positive. Thankfully, all recovered without experiencing any serious symptoms. We are really grateful to the nunnery management team, our residential nurse, and TGS residential team for handling the crisis so gracefully. To date, the Thandroling nunnery and Gargon School students are not affected by the pandemic.
This has also not been easy for our staff team – Ms. Laxmi lost her beloved mother-in-law and Ms. Shristi lost her wonderful father due to the pandemic. We are saddened by the loss and wish for their peaceful transition to the unknown.
The crisis on the other hand has helped us realize how independent our students are! We are so happy to share with you some photos from teacher’s day celebrations solely organized by our students for the teachers in both schools. Our hostel and residential teachers’ team helped them just a little but everything was done by them. We are so lucky to have them in our lives and we wish all the amazing teachers out there a very happy teacher’s day.
