Each year the nuns at Tsoknyi Gechak School prepare special projects for an Annual School Exhibition Day. They welcome the public, including the students’ families, friends and supporters as well as schoolchildren from neighboring schools and other monastic schools. The chief guest is Tsoknyi Rinpoche who tours the projects and watches the presentations that they have prepared for the day.
These projects focus on special age-appropriate topics which are chosen by the teachers in collaboration with their students and often involve taking field trips to gather information or talk with experts in a field. For example, this year students visited local temples and shrines, the ward office where they spoke to government officials, the Nepali Military Museum, the Nepali Botanical Garden, a Farm and Petting Zoo The students then create models, displays, art, interactive games and dramatic performances based on their chosen topic which are exhibited on this day.
